Kumer: a shawarma delivery website for the districts of Kazan

A demo website for Kumer, a made-up shawarma place in Kazan: a menu with ingredients by the gram, a cart and delivery terms for seven districts.

Kumer home page: the “Shawarma on coals” headline and a shawarma cross-section

The task

Orders come from phones, and every other customer asks in the chat whether we deliver to their district and how long it takes. The site should answer that before the order and build a cart in a couple of taps.

What we built

  • A menu and 10 dish pages: ingredients by the gram, nutrition facts, allergens
  • A cart in the browser and a checkout that prices delivery by district
  • 7 district pages: day and night delivery times, minimum order, landmarks
  • 36 pages and one 3 KB script, Lighthouse on mobile 96-100

A made-up company, a working website

Kumer does not exist: the name, the three kitchens, the prices and the deals were invented for the demo. Every page says at the top that this is a studio demo and no orders are taken. The rest works like a real site: the menu, the cart, the checkout, the district pages and the blog. The districts, streets and landmarks of Kazan are real.

A menu that shows what is inside

Each of the ten dishes has its own page: ingredients by the gram, weight, nutrition facts per serving and per 100 g, allergens and what goes well with it. There are no photos. Instead, code draws a cross-section of the shawarma from the recipe, and every ingredient takes as much of it as it has in the recipe. Change the recipe and the picture changes too.

Delivery by district

Each of the seven districts has a page. It says which kitchen delivers, how long it takes by day and by night, the minimum order and the free delivery threshold, and lists neighbourhoods and landmarks for the courier. The cart lives in the browser. At checkout the site prices delivery for the chosen district and checks the name, phone and address.

In the demo the order goes nowhere. A working version would send it to the kitchen in Telegram. How a whole project like this is built is on the food delivery website page.

A poster on a charcoal wall

The site looks like a street poster: two-colour print, yellow for buttons, pink for stickers. Every dish in the menu is printed on its own till receipt, and the deals are coupons with a cut line.

  • All 36 pages are built ahead into static HTML, and SvelteKit sends no code at all to the browser.
  • The only script runs the cart and weighs about 3 KB gzipped.
  • Lighthouse on mobile: performance 96-100, the other scores 100 on every page. The first screen shows in 1.6-1.7 s, a page weighs 86-110 KB.

If orders are easier to take inside the messenger, the same menu and cart can move into a Telegram Mini App.
